As the Savings Bank business continued to grow, the Queen Victoria site expanded onto Addle Hill, circa 1890, and along Carter Lane.

Addle Hill Annex


The Addle Hill annex to the Post Office Savings Bank extended from Knightrider Street, up Addle Hill to encompass the whole block to Carter Lane.

Seen opposite is the Knightrider Street elevation of the extension to the Post Office Savings Bank. A walkway/enclosed bridge connected the annex with the main building on Queen Victoria Street. Addle Hill is on the far left.

The Addle Hill annex of the Savings Bank building extended along Carter Lane and spanned Bell Yard. The ornate portico marked the only entrance on this side of the block.
