A large amount of 'network uplift' was carried out by 'BT Contractors' such as Telecom Eireann.

The new pole (below) was installed simply to increase the clear height of the single dropwire to the bungalow (opposite).

Introduction

Contractors working on behalf of BT allow major projects to be undertaken, without the need for recruiting and training additional permanent staff.

In the example below, the original dropwire to the premises (a bungalow) did not allow sufficient height for correct road clearance, so an additional pole was planted closer to the termination point.

Pole Position On the up Down to earth
Pole planting is easy! A hole is bored using the auger attachment. The pole comes ready fitted with steps and distribution ring. Pull a few levers and the hydraulic arms lift the pole effortlessly into the air, but watch out for trees and power lines. Once in position, the pole is firmly planted into the ready made hole. A few minutes later and the technician climbs the pole and runs a new dropwire. Poles apart from the competition.
