Introduction The PEU is basically a powered earth auger having an extendible jib, mounted on a four wheel drive utility chassis by means of a rotatable turret. At the end of the jib is a winch (used for lifting poles) and the pole hole boring tool. The turret, jib, winch and boring tool are all hydraulically operated. A hydraulic portable jack and back-fill rammer are also provided, the later being electrically operated on later models of the PEU. All operations of the equipment are controlled from a panel at the rear of the vehicle. The PEU is capable of carrying a pole load of 30 cwt (approx 9 poles). The PEU in the photo above, like many vehicles, was made up of components from a variety of manufacturers... Augers for Atlas Cranes [www.autoguideequipment.co.uk] "By working closely with the most demanding customers, Autoguide Equipment have developed a unique range of auger installation packages The 40,000 PXV variable speed unit, developed for British Telecom, provides over 8,500Nm of torque. This unit has a variable speed motor and works using an oil flow of 25 litres per minute. Traditional single speed units need up to 125 litres/min flow to achieve the same performance. This unique Autoguide feature saves on installation costs, needing no extra pump or tank, saves valuable payload and simplifies installation. The very high efficiency motor eliminates the need for extra oil coolers even in countries with hot climates." See also Atlas Terex UK Ltd (Formerly Atlas Hydraulic Loaders Ltd). Note that Atlas has since been migrated into the Terex brand. |
