In the days when the Post Office was responsible for both the postal and the telephone service, letters collected from the Tower were franked "Posted at the Post Office Tower".

The Post Office Tower 3d stamp (1965)-Abbott, printed by Harrison & Sons Ltd. Clive Abbott  born 1933 - He won a British Post Office design competition for this stamp - the first English stamp to carry the name of the artist and printer.
