THE POST OFFICE TOWER. The Tallest building in Britain, higher than the dome and cross of St.Paul's Cathedral, the Post Office Tower is already one of London's most prominent landmarks.

The Post Office Tower Stamps were designed by former Wimbledon Art School student, 32-years old Clive Abbott, now art director in a London advertising agency. Although he has previously designed greetings telegrams for the G.P.O., he has never before attempted stamp design.

The issue of postage stamps commemorating the operational opening of the Post Office Tower was printed by Harrison and Sons Ltd., by the photogravure process. The 3d. value - 75 million stamps in 3 colours by 3 unit reel fed cylinder rotary machines. The 1/3d. value - 10 million stamps also printed by sheet fed multi-unit plate machine. Both stamps are on coated paper with crown all over watermark.
