TPOs on The Nene Valley Railway

Here at Sutton Cross, on 4th July 2009, the TPO mechanism picks up and sets down three mail bags. The postmen can be seen in their trade mark light brown GPO 'dust coats' while the guard waves that the demo was a success! 

The Mechanism
The receiving net is ready...
The net to catch the outbound mail pouches is set and ready.

The postmen load the mailbag pouches onto the collecting arms, which are then swung out towards the track.

The immaculate paint finish on the Deltic diesel gleams in the sunshine.
The Railway demonstrates the picking-up and setting-down of mail bags at two locations on its line.

Here at Sutton Cross, the Deltic hauled TPO makes it look so simple!
