Overview

Historically, the larger telecom vans had custom-built bodies fitted to a standard chassis. Innovations in modern vehicle design allows BT Fleet to purchase industry standard vehicles with minimal customisation necessary to meet its operational requirements.

Rob Pope (BT Fleet): "The Daily vans enable us to enhance our fleet. They carry the same equipment and tooling as the trucks they have replaced and can do 98% of the same work, whilst offering a flexible operational package."

These Openreach vans have been fitted with Bri-Stor modular racking. For the special cabling duties the vans use the factory-fitted PTO (Power Take Off) together with Gardner Denver hydraulic and pneumatic power systems. Gardner Denver has a long history of suppling cable-handling equipment to BT.
