"This Dodge 15cwt was the last model of Commer-type van used by the Post Office and British Telecom from the 1950s. This particular vehicle was purchased from Chrysler UK Ltd. Dunstable (under contract no. 572259 item A), and was put into service on the 17th August 1978. Operating around Rushey Green in the British Telecom London South East Area, she was used as an external maintenance van under the fleet no. 78 314 0678. The livery of this vehicle at the time of her introduction was red lettering ('Post Office Telecommunications') on yellow bodywork - a change from the green-on-yellow of previous years. She was maintained from 1978-83 by the British Telecom workshop at Bromley, and from 1984-5 by the Catford workshop, close to her operational area. The vehicle was transferred to the Showcase Historic Vehicle Collection in 1986 and underwent a complete rebuild, having covered just 32,355 miles."
