Contractors With the proliferation of telecom companies and the need to quickly extend networks to meet demand, much new work is contracted-out, to enable labour to be provided efficiently and at minimum cost to the network provider. There have been many different contractors over the years, with some specialist firms, e.g. Plessey, providing the direct labour for new installations. More recently, companies such as Telent have been contracted to supply the resources, sometimes in partnership with others to offer a total package of support services. |

OpenreachContractors have historically worked for BT Group, but as Openreach operates 'the final mile' then the majority of work is consequently executed for them. |
