Lasting Style

Such is the lasting appeal of the original Trimphone, that a British company (Wild & Wolf) commissioned a modern lookalike named the trimPHONE.

Fully launched in 2009, the design looked identical to the original dial telephone, except that the dummy dial consisted of 12 press buttons (0 to 9 plus * #). With the handset and line cord terminated by RJ11 plugs, this was a clever use of modern manufacturing.  At a retail price of £35, this was comparable to the outright sale amount of the 1980s Phoenixphones. Made in China, the Wild & Wolf trimPHONE was produced in six colours chosen to match today's stylish homes.

Colours: Red, White, Green, Turquoise, Purple, Pink. From December 2010, Orange replaced Pink in the range.

trimPhone 1970s DESIGN CLASSIC

"Launched bt the GPO in 1965 as a fashionable alternative to its regular models, it was in the 1970s that the Trimphone became commonplace. TRIM stands for Tone Ringer Illuminated Model: it was the first phone to ring using a modern electronic warbler rather than the traditional bell mechanism and on the earlier models the dial glowed in the dark. By 1980 there were 1.6 million in use throughout the UK. This replica version has all the style and features of the 1970s original, but with modern push button dialling."
