In more Detail The basic design of switchboard was little changed from the early 1900s, but those provided to meet the rapid growth in overseas calls, circa 1970, had Formica keyshelves, instead of the traditional red fabric covering. It is likely that these were refurbished keyshelves, rather than brand new boards, such was the longevity of the original construction.
