It later stood for about 15 years at Lochgilphead, Argyll, until it was removed circa 1998 to Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker, near Nantwich in Cheshire. In late 2001 MNDX 295 was sold and moved to a preserved steam railway in the Midlands. The MNDX was repainted in the correct shade of GPO green and professionally sign-written in its exact original form. By September 2002 MNDX 295 was parked up next to a water tower on a preserved steam railway in the Midlands. The exchange was fully restored, both inside and out, and was integrated into the railway's internal (Strowger based) network via Auto - Auto relay set LD (loop-disconnect) junctions running through an underground 30-pair cable.
