Filling in dockets-had to be with a pencil and inside the boundaries of the boxes, so as to be read by a machine.



The lower section was the calling number field, you marked off the full STD code on the docket by crossing through the numbers with the special propelling pencil (with dialling top) issued to all telephonists. In this example 01-764 4143.

The reverse of the ticket (docket) allowed space for notes (reports), in this case 'government' connected at 10:33 and terminated at 10:36.
