Brian Cross remembers...

I started as a Y2YC at Faraday in 1949 so this is a very nostalgic web site for me. The four L/NE pictures from 1954 are from when I was a T2A in that station. The farewell party was mine in 1955. I include it in case you are interested in the people who worked in L/NE at that time.

Distribution Frame
L/NE RDF
Fading into the mists of time. A never ending line-up of wiring and jacks. Looks like relays sets racks in the background.

Test Positions
L/NE Test Positions
'State of the art testers.' Plug sockets, meters and dials and a hand-microtelephone.

Stores
L/NE Stores
Stores - items like relays were wrapped in wax paper and supplied in a small cardboard boxes. No bubble wrap in those days. Note the switchboard/test cords hanging along the back wall.

Farewell in The Rising Sun
The farewell party for Brian Cross in The Rising Sun.

"I can't remember many of the names but, apart from me in the centre, there was Clive Nightingale, Alan Jenkins, and Dan ?"
