2A - A Brief History

Not much is known of the history of 2A, suffice to say that very little changed over the many years of its operation. During the 1970s, Brian J Hordle ran the switchrooms in both Wren House and Faraday 2A. In 1979, demand for calls to abroad was still growing, so following Brian's promotion, the responsibilities were re-assigned to Malcolm Knight for 2A and Graham McCubbin for Wren.

Malcolm Knight Oversees
Zimbabwe
Malcolm Knight was somewhat unorthodox (as a manager) in that he occasionally allocated himself telephonist duties to see how difficult it actually was to work on the board...

"The Switchroom had been newly carpeted. Most people preferred the old wood block as it didn't give everyone static shocks."

See if you remember anyone who worked there...
