2A: The Cake

The party started
at midday and went on to midnight for the benefit of day and
night staff on various duties. Although operator services
worked out of the North Block in the 1920s, it is thought
that Switchroom 2A may not have opened before the mid 1930s.

The words on the cake read:
LFICC 2A 1928-1981.
Icons: Satellite to cableship (Marisat service), Camels and Pyramids
(Egypt), Earth station and Post Office Tower.

The cake baked by the Caroone House chef for the closing
party which was held in 2A on 10th June 1981.
